butlins photo
1. I think the time period the photo was
taken is the 70s because the cloths are different and they didn’t have as much
health and safety back then than they do nowadays.
2. The genre/subject was a postcard and
holidays.
3. Yes because you notice the beach
first
4. The message the pictures trying to convoy
is for because to go to Butlins
5.
6. I don’t think that there was consent
needed for this picture because it’s not illegal.
7. Eye level shot
8. I would take it from a different further
away, to get more of the picture in.

My final montage freaky image
Here is my final freaky image that I edited on photoshop, I made it black and white so that it looks more creepy, the tools that I used to do this were the person was cut out with the pen tool and used the gradient tool to make it all black and white, I quite liked this becuase it's simple but if I did it again I would probably make that person bigger so you can see it more.
Brainstorm and ideas
We did a Brain storm of different produces who produced famous tv shows or movies, I researched the produces of some of my favourite tv shows such as orange is the new black and the Big Bang theory also I searched for some of the short films that we had been doing in lesson like wasp by Andrea Arnold and soft by Simon Ellis.
Slogan intro quiz sheet
We did a quiz where we had to write down what popular company the slogans are from, a slogan is something that people use to bring more people in and get them interested. such as KFC the slogan is " finger lickin' good " which they are saying that it's so good that you have to lick your fingers after so that you don't waste any of it.
There was a lot of easy ones that weren't had to guess at all which were KFC, McDonald's, Nike which were really recognisable because they have been around for years and are popular brands but there were some ones that weren't so obvious such as Stella, British airlines,
Notes on editing
After we filmed our adverts for the chocolate bar and we had enough takes of each scene which we were all happy with we had to edit it, we needed to take it in turns to edit a little bit so that we got the hang of it and we all contributed a little bit to it.
Proposal
For my freak or unique photography I am going to be doing a
ghostly image so I need to make it look creepy, I’m going to take a picture of
the tunnel outside college going into the courtyard as it is dark and would be
good to use, I’m also going to be taking pictures of someone on the spiral
stairs to be photo shopped into the tunnel, for this the person is going to be
walking down the stairs so that the person goes blurry and as ghostly as
possible, so they look like they could be a ghost when I put it in the tunnel. I
will need to do it at a time when there isn’t going to be many people around so
I’m going to do it quite a bit in to the lesson rather than right at the
beginning so that I don’t get anyone I don’t want to have in the photo as it wouldn’t
look as effective.
I will take quite a few pictures in different directions of each
place to see what angle looks the best, and so that I have more than one
picture to choose from of both places and so that I can chose the best one from
each to use for my final design. I will use Photoshop to merge the two images
together, to do this I will put both images on different layers and I will use
the gradient tool to make them both black and white because I think that would
be more effective than it would if it was in colour, then I’m going to make the
person a bit more transparent, blurry and maybe a bit bigger as I don’t want it
to look too small because you won’t be able to see it very well and I want to
be able to see the face, then get them both blended together into one photo. After
that I will use the cut out tool to cut around the person so that there isn’t any
background left and I can use just the person in my other photo.
After I have used the first person for it I might put more
than one person onto it as I think it would look better to use more than one
ghost than if I just used the one ghost as it would make it look creepier.
Clone tool experiments
We had to chose two images off google, one of a person and one of an animal, I chose to do one of Neil Patrick Harris and one of a cat, on Photoshop we had to edit an extra body part on them to make it look freaky, I edited an extra eye onto the cat and an extra eye and mouth onto the man.
The skills I learned while doing this was how to edit images on Photoshop and how to use the different tools that can edit different body parts onto pictures. I liked the pictures that I edited but if I was to do it again I would probably chose a different animal to use and edit more than one body part onto it as the cat was quite quick and easy to do. the tools that i used for it was

Short film Wasp
We watched a short film called wasp by a woman called Andrea Arnold on our computers, the film was about a woman who has a lot of kids but is poor and finds it hard to provide for them. we had to mention the time that a different camera shot was used and then a time different sounds were used such as digetic sound.
The different shots were:
close up shot at 3:08
The wide shot at 4:38
Sound in advertising
We had watch adverts, which were the iPod,Peugeot and ikea adverts and guess which ones they were with out being told, then we had to say what say what tempo, key, major keys, minor keys and digetic sound are.
Major keys- loud happy music
Minor keys- quiet sad music
Key- range of notes
Digetic sound- it's a sound that is visible on screen such as voices of characters, sounds made by objects, coming from instruments.
Non-digetic sound- it's a sound where it's not visable on the screen such as narrators commentary, sound effects and mood music.

Arm and hammer logo
We had to go on a website that had all these brands and what they do that is cruel, We redesigned the logo with a slogan that shows it's cruel, I chose arm and hammer because they test their tooth paste on animals, The original slogan was the standard of purity.
I was quite happy with my final design, But if I was to do it again I would change the logo a little bit so it's not exactly the same to the original one.

Freaky image research
We had to find 10 freaky or unique photos to re-create and take pictures of, these were the 10 photos that I chose, I liked these ones because they are a mixture of creepy and weird and I thought they would be good to do them myself. We also had to narrow it down to five photos after so I chose the clown in the train station, the hand in eye, the Popeye and the other clown one because I thought they would be the best and easiest ones to do.
To find these images I had to search freak or unique or creepy pictures into Google and it came up with quite a few good pictures that could have been used. I thought I chose the right kind of pictures for the type of image I want to re create as I want it to be really creepy.

Camera diagram
We had to draw pictures of the camera and annotate what they are, I labelled what the different things on the camera were called and then wrote in the box next to it how they are used and what they are good for to get a better picture of what you want.
The first one we did was the front elevation, I labelled the lens, flash, mode button and the shutter button, the next one was the rear elevation, on this I labelled the view finder, review button,EVF LCD button, the button to take timed shots,The button to take the photo and the pelele images button. The last one was the top elevation, on this I labelled the shutter button and the lens hood which protects the lens.
What I learned from this lesson was, what the function is for everything on the camera and what spams stands for.
It Stands for:
S- shutter speed
P- program
A- Apature
M- Manual
photographs unedited
Today we had to take the photos that we are going to recreate for photography, I took my pictures in the tunnel on the way to the court yard, and i took one on the spiral stair case, when i edit it in Photoshop i'm hoping that the picture will look like a ghostly image.
The skills i learnt from this was how to take a clear photo and how to make it brighter so its not really dark, I thought my final piece was good but if i did it again i would take more photos in different places. i also learnt how to use and change the shutter speed.
Questions
Q1. What is ISO and what does it effect? The ISO reflects
the intensity of the light getting into the camera; has to adjusted depending on
how much light there is, People would low ISO use it when it’s low light and
high ISO when it’s bright.
Q2. When would we use the ‘P’ control setting on the camera
mode dial? You would use programme when you want to control the ISO which controls
the detail and the white balance which is the colour, good to focus on the
composition. Make sure the arrows are pointed in the direction of the lens.
Q3. Name two important considerations when attaching the
tripod base plate to the bottom of camera? Make sure the arrows are pointed in
the direction of the lens; push the leaver on the back,
Q4. Name three important considerations when using a
red-head lighting kit: Don’t touch the barn doors because they get hot, don’t touch
the bulbs, when finished using it leave it to cool down, make sure you don’t trip
over the wire,
Q5. When focusing the camera, what do we place on the
object/subject to ensure it is the center of focus? You need the little green square
to be in focus,

Proposal video advert
For our advert we are going to sell a chocolate bar called monsters, we chose this because a lot of people like chocolate, our idea is a man chases a woman down the spiral staircase and is trying to attack her, she attacks him with her bag and the chocolate bar falls out, she picks it up and shows it to the camera while saying our slogan "No more monsters" and then she eats the chocolate bar, then we will show the product of a text saying "a bar a day keeps the monsters away".
Our target audience is for 12 year olds and up and for people who like horror stuff, In our advert There are going to be two actors which are The woman and the monster, we are going to have dramatic and suspenseful music which will intrigue or target audience, The video effect will be in black and white which will give it a horror theme to the advertisement. Our advert is going to be 30 seconds long.
Location
We had to go out around the college with our groups that we were put in, To find a location to film our advert in, We chose to do ours on the stairs as it would look good, it was quiet and no one else chose to do Theirs there. We also had to take a picture of the place we were filming it in.
Final magazine advert
Today we had to create a poster for our chocolate bar that we did for the advert on Photoshop, we had to do a plan first so that we knew what we were doing when we had to start designing it, I chose the cartoon monster because it would appeal to kids more. so I just got an image of a monster off google of a monster that kids might like, We also had to add a background to it, I chose a brick wall because it suited the monster theme more and made it stand out so I also got a picture of a wall to use off google. I researched some popular slogans to see if I could change it to suit, this helped me because it helped me choose my slogan.
I used the shape tool to make the chocolate bar shape, I also got the alien pictures off google and cut the background out with the magic wand tool. then added the background onto it.
I thought my final piece was okay but if I could do it differently I would put more colour onto the actual product.

Target audience for adverts
Advert
1- Kia motors advert
The target audience for the advert is adults/ people
who drive. The sound they use in the advert is slow music because in the advert
they make people look happy and excited that they got the car.
2- L’OrĂ©al makeup advert
The target audience for this advert is teenagers/women
aged 16+. In this advert they use Jennifer Lopez so that it appeals to more
people as she is a well-known celebrity and people look up to her.
Notes on filming
Today we filmed the adverts for our film lesson,We filmed ours on the stairs as it was a good place to do it and no one else chose it, in our advert we were advertising a chocolate bar called monsters so we had to make it quite creepy, We brought a galaxy chocolate bar and took the package off to put ours on it so that it looks better and more realistic.
In our advert Callum and Linda did the acting and i recorded, what happened in ours was Callum wore a mask, put his hood up and chased Linda down the stairs, she hits him with her bag eats the chocolate and says our slogan which was "No more monsters". when we got back we had to edit it and cut out the bits we didn't want to use or went wrong, we also had to cut it down as it could only be 15-30 minutes long. We made ours black and white because it made it look more creepy.
We used quite a few different shots for it such as close up, mid shot, long shot and over the shoulder shot, we had to use different shots because it wouldn't look as good if we just used one shot and they use different types in adverts.
Banner

Today we made a freak or unique banner on Photoshop, we had to make the banner and have a colored background, we used different tools to do this such as the shape tool, merge down tool, type layers tool and more.
we used the shape tool to make the shapes for it like we had to have a rectangle and triangles, the merge tool merged it together so that it was just one thing when you move it instead of it all moving separately. then we just used the colors to do the background.

Story board
Today we did our story board for the advert, so that we know how we're going to act it out on the day, to show what our advert is about and to help us while we are filming, We made the scenes that we have to do and explained what's happening in the scene underneath the picture.
We also did a list of all the camera shots that we're going to be using for it, so that it's all been planned out for the day we need to be recording it. We had to decide on what everyone was bringing for the advert tomorrow. Callum's bringing a mask and we're all going to bring a chocolate bar just in case we mess up.

Label for advert project
Today we created a font that we wanted to use for the label for our product, We did these four because they all look like they fit into the monster theme.
We chose the third one because we all agreed that it fitted with what we were doing better, as the shape and style of the writing looks better with the monster theme and it can be colored in whereas the others can't.
To create these fonts we had to go on dafont and chose the font that suited the product the most, paste the chosen fonts to Photoshop and use the rectangular marquee tool to cut all the white bits out of it.
Library visit
Today we went down to the library to have a look around see where everything is and look at the books, we were also told stuff like you can have up to eight things by using your student card and can only keep it for up to two weeks. We also had to spend abit of time looking for a book that would interest us. I chose a comic book because I prefer to read comic books rather than actual books.
